Hi,

I want to grant myself sysop on my wiki but I don't have access to the sysop account (the former admin is gone and forgot to give me that !).

So I tried to change the rights by executing a mysql request :

Code:

INSERT INTO user_groups (ug_user, ug_group) VALUES ('X', 'bureaucrat');
INSERT INTO user_groups (ug_user, ug_group) VALUES ('X', 'sysop');

where X is my user_id on the wiki. Unfortunately, it doesn't work since, I think, mediawiki now uses the phpBB database for users...

What can I do ?

Thanks for your help Wink

ps : I use mediawiki 1.12 and it seems to work well !

I would normally refer these type of questions because the issue is really lost admin access and really has nothing to so with the plug-in. But I have an idea.

If you have access to the database you are better served changing his password. MW uses a MD5 hash so it would be easy to do so.

1. Disable the plug-in.
2. Change his pass in the MW DB
3. Log into the wiki as him.
4. Give your self sysop access.
5. Logout
6. Enable plug-in
7. Log into the wiki as you.
8. You should now have admin access.

Thanks for the reply,

In fact the problem was that my user was appearing twice in the wiki database.
Does your extension put phpbb users in the wiki database ?

No my add-on does not. However when a phpBB logs into MW for the 1st time MW adds them to the MW user DB.
